9/27/24 - 2 p.m. update
Again, a huge thank you to all of our friends and family who are reaching out to check on us. We really appreciate it.
As of about 30 minutes ago, power has been restored. We still do not have water. Scott is grabbing some lunch and trying to rest a little bit. He did get a lot of our garage gone through and cleaned up. If it wasn’t thrown away, it’s in the driveway and side yard drying out. Good thing we already had some contractor garage bags! We probably had water in the garage for about 8 hours before it began to recede.
I got to Kissimmee safely with the dogs. I passed a lot of electrical trucks on my way north. I was grateful to see them. I’ll be working on starting our insurance claims for all of the vehicles that have been damaged. I’m also monitoring when I can get on the island to help with the cleanup. It is still closed.
Our neighbors daughter and her boyfriend arrived by boat to assess damage. Scott got to visit with them for a while and they offered to bring him anything he might need tomorrow. It’s safe to say that every house on our street, and probably the entire island, got water in their ground floor. The storm surge was unprecedented.
Again, thank you so much for reaching out to me to check on us.
