9/27/24 - 9 a.m. Update
Thank you to all of our friends and family who are reaching out to check on us. We really appreciate it. As most of you know, Scott stayed at the house during Hurricane Helene while the dogs and I went to a hotel 20 miles inland. Unfortunately, we got at least 3 feet of water in our garage and in our downstairs space which consists of a laundry room, bathroom, living area/weight room, and a room with two queen beds. We have a standard pinball machine and the water got to the bottom of it, this will give you some idea of how high the water got inside. There is no power on the island at this time. Last night, Scott said he smelled something burning and in fact there were two fires, a house burned to the ground just a couple of blocks from us and our neighbors car caught on fire. The sheriff is not letting anyone on the island right now. I am most likely going to drive our dogs up to our son Ryan and his girlfriend Ashley’s apartment in Kissimmee. I will then figure out how I can get down to help Scott clean up. Scott’s Jeep was in the driveway of our home. And has at least 2 inches of standing water inside. He is not tried to start it yet. Hopefully we have not lost that car. We have other vehicles that were in the garage that probably are not going to make it. Again, thank you so much for reaching out to me to check on us. We will take all the prayers we can get.
